Artist Biography

Michel De Goeye (1900, Anderlecht – 1958, Ixelles/Brussels) was a Belgian painter, draftsman, and graphic artist. He trained at the Academy of Brussels and developed a versatile career combining fine art and commercial design.

From 1920 to 1952, he worked for the magazine of the Englebert company, and between 1925 and 1940 he was active as an advertising artist for the Grand Bazar in Liège. He also designed posters and, after 1945, created fashion and textile drawings for the newspaper La Meuse.

De Goeye produced numerous (often color) etchings, with a particular focus on landscapes, Brussels cityscapes, and figures. He is listed in BAS I and Two Centuries of Signatures of Belgian Artists.
